To Sharn

A long time passed after the wars, although the killing has never stopped. It must be done.
I found my way on a lightning rail to Sharn, a large city that I had never visited - that I knew. Merrix of Cannith was said to be there, hiding in its bowels, creating the new of my brethren in secret.

On the ride, I shared a cabin with others: all of them the soft-folk. One attacked another with a magic-stick. Then the attacker fled. He escaped. A gnome onboard healed the wound, and the man lived. An elf guarded the gnome.
There was a dwarf, too, and he claimed that I was his guard.
There was talk of a book. I said nothing to the fleshlings. As if this was a war. They have seen nothing.

When Sharn arrived, I followed these strange beings: gnome, elf, and dwarf. They spoke of a meeting, but it was far away. I had money for transport, so I gave them the silver coins, one-by-one, which the dwarf picked up.

That night, we went to the sky-bridge. Too high up.
There was a body on the bridge. As the gnome, Dinnivan, looked closer; a form leapt upon the catwalk. It was a woman-forged, and she attacked! She wanted the book. The gnome threw it to me. The elf, Ellaran, poked her with a stick.
She came for the book, and I slew her. ...Where did the dwarf go?

After my strike, she reeled and fell over the bridge. Then a small winged thing flew away from her body.
The guards showed up, but there remained only Zed and the corpse of the first one. As usual, as is right.
They asked questions. The dwarf, Vaegar, appeared and told them what happened. I told them how I slew the attacker.

When the woman-guard found the body of she-forged on the level below, they believed the truth.

Dwarf and Zed left, to return to lower places, to find the gnome and elf.
They talked of rest and food: the Inn. So I went and watched them rest
